Manchester United defender Patrice Evra believes that his side can emulate Chelsea by winning the Champions League despite suffering a poor campaign in the Premier League.
The Blues beat Bayern Munich to win the competition on penalties in 2012, a year of struggle in the top flight as they finished sixth, their lowest placing in 10 years.
Evra is quoted as saying by The Mirror: "It was funny because all season reminded me of the Chelsea season they won the Champions League when they were not playing well in the league.
"I am not saying we are going to do the same but sometimes you have to be positive, so why not?
"Of course it is unusual for us to say we can save our season in one game. Now we must make sure the fans will be proud for the second leg against Bayern."
United face Bayern in the second leg of their quarter-final clash at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
