Manchester United officials are reportedly angry that PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno was named man of the match by UEFA after the Mexican broke Luke Shaw's leg in two places during Tuesday's Champions League clash.
Moreno was left unpunished by referee Nicola Rizzoli after his tackle in the first half of PSV's 2-1 victory left Shaw in tears.
The England international is expected to be out of action for at least six months after he underwent surgery on the double fracture in Eindhoven on Tuesday.
Moreno, who also scored in the game, was awarded man of the match by UEFA, which has left United feeling "stunned and dismayed", according to The Telegraph.
After the result, United manager Louis van Gaal described Moreno's challenge as a "very bad tackle".
