Manchester United are reportedly set to earn around £3.4m in add-ons from Jadon Sancho's loan tenure at Borussia Dortmund, triggered by the Bundesliga club's advancement to the Champions League final.

The England international featured in both legs against Paris Saint-Germain as the German giants emerged victorious with a 2-0 aggregate scoreline, securing their place in the Champions League final for the first time since 2013.

The 24-year-old arrived at Old Trafford for a fee of £73m back in 2021 but struggled to make an impact before falling out with Man United manager Erik ten Hag at the start of this season.

After refusing to apologise to Ten Hag, Sancho was dropped from the first team before being loaned back to Dortmund during the January transfer window, accompanied by several financial stipulations.

Man United set for cash windfall with Sancho reaching CL final

According to talkSPORT, Man United included additional payment clauses in Sancho's loan deal to Dortmund, contingent upon certain achievements. Dortmund initially paid £3m upfront and a portion of Sancho's wages as part of the agreement to bring him to Germany in January.

The report adds that the agreement also includes a clause stating that BVB would pay the Red Devils a further £3.4m in bonus payments based on their Champions League progress and the player's appearances in the competition.

It is understood that the majority of those add-on payments have now been activated as a result of Sancho helping the side book their spot at Wembley Stadium on June 1.

Dortmund are believed to be eager to convert Sancho's loan move into a permanent transfer, but the player's current £290,000-a-week package could make it difficult to afford him.

Sancho future still undecided

In addition, United have yet to confirm their asking price for the player, whose current contract at Old Trafford runs until the summer of 2026.

Sancho scored just 12 goals and provided six assists in 82 games for United, but since returning to his former club, he has scored three goals and provided two assists in 18 appearances, with 16 of those being starts.

BVB progressed through the last 16 by defeating Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven before overcoming La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.

Dortmund will discover their opponent for the final at Wembley when Bayern Munich and Real Madrid face off in the other semi-final matchup on Wednesday night. body check tags ::
