CSKA Moscow and Manchester United remain locked together in Group B of the Champions League having played out a 1-1 draw at the Arena Khimki this evening.

The hosts took the lead after 15 minutes when Seydou Doumbia fired home a rebound after David de Gea had tipped Roman Eremenko's penalty onto the post.

United ensured that they would leave the Russian capital with a point shortly past the hour mark, however, as Anthony Martial, who had given away the spot kick, made amends with a well-guided header.

Here, Sports Mole looks at who stood out during the 90 minutes.

CSKA MOSCOW

Goal

Igor Akinfeev: Very little to do for long spells of the match. Perhaps could have got across to Martial's header a little quicker, but it was in off the post in fairness to the veteran keeper. (6/10)

Defence

Mario Fernandes: The standout player in the first half with his relentless runs down the right flank. Won the penalty via that route and kept Martial quiet down the other end too. Maybe could have done better with the United goal, although he was left with two players to mark so blaming him would be harsh. (7/10)

Vasili Berezutski: Was imperious alongside his centre-back partner during his time on the field, but was forced off towards the end of the first half due to an injury. (7/10)

Sergei Ignashevich: Barely put a foot wrong, marking Rooney out of the game with the exception of one headed chance for the United skipper. The legs may not be as quick as they once were, but he read the game brilliantly tonight. (7/10)

Georgi Schennikov: Was rarely tested in the first half, but soon became a weak link in the second as United's 10-minute purple patch all came down his side of the field. (6/10)

Midfield

Zoran Tosic: Was on the end of a verbal assault from his skipper Akinfeev after the goal, presumably for letting Martial run free. Aside from that he did his defensive duties very well, but he struggled to have a big impact in the final third. (6/10)

Pontus Wernbloom: Protected his back four brilliantly, keeping the likes of Herrera, Lingard and Martial quiet. Always seemed to be there to mop up an attack. (7/10)

Roman Eremenko: Posed a sporadic threat to the United back four. His big chance came from the penalty spot, but he saw his effort well saved by De Gea before Doumbia fired home the rebound. (6/10)

Alan Dzagoev: When he came off towards the end of the match, the stats said that he run more than anyone else, which suggests he worked very hard defensively. On the ball, though, he was virtually anonymous. (5/10)

Ahmed Musa: His pace can clearly cause problems, but his decision-making needs work. Even so, if CSKA play on the counter again at Old Trafford then Musa could be one to watch. Almost lobbed De Gea with a fine effort from range. (6/10)

Attack

Seydou Doumbia: Worked hard to lead the line and got his reward with the goal, reacting quickest to the rebound. Carried a lingering threat without really troubling United too often from then on. (7/10)

Substitutes

Alexei Berezutski: Replaced his twin brother at the heart of the defence and, had you popped out of the room when the sub took place, you wouldn't have noticed a difference. Just as solid at the back. (7/10)

Kirill Panchenko: An attacking change towards the closing stages, but couldn't make an impact during his cameo appearance. (6/10)

Aleksandrs Cauna: Introduced in the 87th minute and didn't have enough time to influence proceedings. (6/10)

MAN UTD

Goal

David de Gea: Very unfortunate to see his penalty save come to nothing as Doumbia tucked home the rebound. Also made a good stop to deny Musa's long-range effort later in the first half. (7/10)

Defence

Antonio Valencia: Solid at the back for the most part and, when he did eventually start to get forward, made a difference at the other end of the field too. United's best moments came down the right, including the goal for which Valencia claimed the assist. (7/10)

Phil Jones: Far too slow to react to De Gea's penalty save, allowing Doumbia to nip in and open the scoring. Decent performance in open play, though, making some good interceptions and coping with the pace and power of Musa and Doumbia for the most part. (6/10)

Chris Smalling: Was also equipped to deal with that pace and power, although his distribution from the back was a little dodgy on more than one occasion. (7/10)

Marcos Rojo: Had a torrid time in the first half as Fernandes continually overlapped down his flank and looked dangerous. Survived a penalty shout in the second half and was eventually hauled off by Van Gaal. (5/10)

Midfield

Bastian Schweinsteiger: Obviously such a highly accomplished player, but he controls the tempo of this United side and too often it is pedestrian. Was taken off at half time. (6/10)

Morgan Schneiderlin: Flew under the radar a little as United dominated possession. Helped his side to control the ball, but was also guilty of not speeding things up at times. (6/10)

Jesse Lingard: A surprise selection from Van Gaal, but he did not disgrace himself on his Champions League debut. Showed a glimpse here and there of what he can do without coming up with anything of real substance. (6/10)

Ander Herrera: For too long United lacked the creative spark that the man in the number 10 role is in the team to provide. The pace of the passing did not help, but Herrera didn't appear to have the craft and guile to slice through a well-drilled defence. (5/10)

Anthony Martial: A mixed bag. Perhaps the only United player who actually tried to inject a bit of pace into their play, although his dribbles were usually quickly shut down. Conceded the penalty with a poor piece of play inside the box and was kept pinned back for much of that opening 45 minutes by Fernandes. Never neglected his defensive duties, though, and had joy at the other end of the field with the equalising goal. (6/10)

Attack

Wayne Rooney: Had United's first real chance on the hour mark, but guided his header straight at Akinfeev. Was marked out of the game by the two defenders and didn't seem to have an answer. (5/10)

Substitutes

Marouane Fellaini: Brought on for Schweinsteiger at half time and, as ever, provided an aerial threat. His introduction didn't change the course of the game much, though. (6/10)

Daley Blind: A straight swap for Rojo at left-back and coasted through his 27-minute cameo without making a notable impact. (6/10)

Memphis Depay: Set up one opening during his 10 minutes on the field but other than that didn't have enough time to find a winner. (6/10)
