Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Tuesday's Champions League Group H trip to face Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

Manchester United return to Champions League action with one of the toughest tests they could face as they take on last season's runners-up Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on matchday one.

The three-time European champions were consigned to Europa League football last term, but are now back at the top table alongside PSG, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir in Group H.

United will be hoping to repeat their heroics the last time they visited the French capital, when they beat PSG to progress to the quarter-finals of the 2018-19 Champions League against all the odds.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could set his side up for the contest.

Out: Harry Maguire (hamstring), Edinson Cavani (fitness), Mason Greenwood (unspecified), Eric Bailly (unspecified), Jesse Lingard (unspecified)
Doubtful: Axel Tuanzebe (foot)

Much of the spotlight regarding Man United's team news for this match will has unsurprisingly surrounded Edinson Cavani, who is now in training with his new teammates and eligible to make his debut against his former club after sitting out for precautionary measures against Newcastle United at the weekend.

The 33-year-old's tallies of 30 Champions League goals and 200 goals in total are both club records for PSG, while he could become only the four player to score on his Champions League debut for three different clubs.

However, the Uruguayan will be forced to wait for that achievement; he has been left out of the travelling party having not played a competitive fixture since March, with Solskjaer opting to leave him at home in order to build up his fitness.

Cavani is not the only big name who was missing from the flight over to France, with captain Harry Maguire also left behind due to a minor hamstring issue.

With Eric Bailly also among those left at home, and neither Marcos Rojo or Phil Jones included in the Champions League squad, Solskjaer could therefore be forced to use Axel Tuanzebe at centre-back despite a question mark still hanging over his own fitness.

Anthony Martial's availability, after serving the first of a three-game domestic ban at St James' Park, is another reason for Solskjaer to delay Cavani's debut, with the fresh-legged Frenchman expected to lead the line.

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes should also start again, the latter as captain, although Mason Greenwood will not take part after also missing the Newcastle game with an unspecified fitness issue.

Rumoured PSG target Paul Pogba will be pushing for a return to the starting XI after being dropped at the weekend, while Solskjaer could also look to use the Champions League experience of Nemanja Matic against a star-studded PSG attack.

There is also the possibility of a debut for Alex Telles, who was an unused substitute at St James' Park.

David de Gea is likely to keep the gloves, although Solskjaer may be considering the possibility of using the Champions League as a chance to hand a fidgety Dean Henderson more minutes having seen the former Sheffield United loanee keep clean sheets in both outings so far this season.
