Gary Cahill has hailed the impact of teenager Phil Jones after the defender made his England debut as Fabio Capello's side secured their progression to Euro 2012 in Montenegro last night.
The 19-year-old Manchester United centre-back was named in Capello's previous squad for the matches with Bulgaria and Wales, but it wasn't until last night's 2-2 draw in Podgorica that he made his first appearance for the Three Lions.
International teammate Cahill was impressed with the way that Jones conducted himself and believes that he has bright future with England.
"I thought Phil did really well, he got forward when he could, he defended well in really difficult circumstances," said Cahill.
"It was a hard game for him to get his first cap. It was a big game and conditions didn't help him.
"I think we are in really good shape. We've got young players coming through now with a blend of experience as well."
Jones moved to United during the summer for £17m from Blackburn Rovers.
