Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that the supporters are "right" to verbally abuse the team following their defeat to Danish minnows FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.
The Red Devils suffered their second loss in six days as they recorded a 2-1 defeat in the first leg of the round-of-32 tie in Denmark.
The 800 travelling United fans were heard chanting "we're fucking shit" at the end of the game, which was Midtjylland's first win in 10 games and first match in two months.
After the game, Van Gaal told reporters: "The fans can criticise. They can do that because, when you see the second half, maybe they are right. We have to improve and then the fans shall support us again. We have seen that in the 18 months that I am here.
"They are disappointed like we are. I'm very grateful for the fans who supported us, but we wanted to win and we have to win at Old Trafford and then we are in the next round. We have to do it, but it's not easy."
United have now lost 11 games this season.
