Louis van Gaal has conceded that his Manchester United side "owe the fans a result" when they face bitter rivals Liverpool in Europa League tomorrow night.
The Red Devils go into the clash at Old Trafford trailing 2-0 from last week's first leg on Merseyside.
With that result at the forefront of his thinking, Van Gaal has called upon his players to make amends in the return fixture.
"The first half [at Anfield] was not our half. We have to do much better than that otherwise we cannot win," the United boss told reporters.
"We owe the fans a result. The fans are paying to see that and we must deliver."
United have won five of their last six matches against Liverpool at Old Trafford, but only one of those was by a margin big enough to get them through on Thursday evening.
