Gareth Barry: 'We've got to come back next season'

Gareth Barry insists that Manchester City do not want the "horrible feeling" of being 13 points behind Manchester United next season.

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry has insisted that the club have to come back stronger next season.

After winning their first Premier League title last year, City find themselves 13 points behind rivals Manchester United this season.

Although winning the FA Cup would help get over the disappointment, Barry admits it's a horrible feeling when he looks at the table.

"There is a massive amount of hurt inside our dressing room at the moment," Barry said. "When we look at the table it hurts every single one of us.

"If we can win the FA Cup and take that trophy home, we will feel a lot better. But obviously the title is well out of reach now because United have been so relentless.

"It's a horrible feeling that we don't want to have this time next year. [United used the disappointment of last year] to make sure winning it back was their number one target. We've got to come back with the same attitude."

City take on Tottenham Hotspur later today and could close the gap to 10 points at the top of the table.
