Michael Carrick has said that Manchester United must "give credit" to Cambridge United after they were held to a draw by the League Two side in the FA Cup.
The Premier League will host Cambridge in a fourth-round replay after their match at the Abbey Stadium finished goalless this evening.
The midfielder told BBC Sport: "The first half was scrappy. We weren't at out best. Second half we were better. But it was a frustrating result and we wanted to get through, but we have a replay now.
"It's the FA Cup isn't it? We've seen things happen and they defended the box well and made it difficult for us. We have to be better and take chances when they come but you have to give credit to Cambridge United."
Louis van Gaal left out club captain Wayne Rooney, while striker Robin van Persie started on the bench.
