Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has been ruled out of Tuesday's Champions League meeting with Manchester United.
Having picked up 13 points from their five European matches, the Bavarians have already wrapped up top spot in Group A.
While Bayern have secured their place in the last 16, Man United have significant work to do if they are to join the German champions in the knockout rounds.
After mustering just four points from their four games, the Red Devils are currently sitting bottom of the group with a point separating them from Galatasaray and Copenhagen.
To force their way into the top two, Man United need to beat Bayern and hope that the other game in the group finishes as a draw.
With the Red Devils bracing themselves for a tough test, their hopes of claiming all three points could be boosted by the absence of one of Bayern's attacking threats.
Gnabry has been ruled out of the trip to Old Trafford after suffering an injury in Bayern's surprise 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.
The former Arsenal man came off the bench to replace Kingsley Coman in the 66th minute, but he was forced off just moments later with an injury issue.
In a statement released on Sunday, Bayern said: "Serge Gnabry suffered a groin strain in Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt, a scan revealed last night.
"Gnabry, who was forced off the field just five minutes after coming on in Frankfurt, will therefore miss Bayern's upcoming matches."
The injury will come as a significant blow to the Germany international, who has struggled with fitness issues this season
Having failed to enjoy a consistent run of games, Gnabry has struggled to find his best form this term, scoring just one goal in 11 competitive appearances.
That solitary strike took place in Bayern's entertaining 4-3 victory over Man United in September's opening group game.
Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is also without the services of Matthijs de Ligt, Bouna Sarr, Tarek Buchmann and Gabriel Marusic. body check tags ::
