Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Bayern Munich

:Headline: Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Bayern Munich:
Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester United's injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Group A clash with Bayern Munich.
Sports Mole

On the cusp of a premature exit from this season's Champions League, Manchester United have it all to do when Bayern Munich visit Old Trafford for their final Group A battle on Tuesday.

With a paltry four points to show from five games in the section so far, the Red Devils are rooted to the bottom of the pile, one point behind both Copenhagen and Galatasaray.

Erik ten Hag's men must therefore shock group winners Bayern and hope for a draw in the other contest to sneak into second spot, but they return to continental duty having been embarrassed 3-0 by Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the Red Devils' latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Bayern, who have dropped just two points in Group A thus far.

Marcus Rashford

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: December 12 (vs. Bayern Munich)

Marcus Rashford has been one of two Man United players to fall victim to a sickness bug, which prevented him from training on Monday, so the Englishman is seemingly fighting a losing battle to be fit for Tuesday.

Anthony Martial

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: December 12 (vs. Bayern Munich)

Likewise, Anthony Martial has been under the weather in recent hours and is a doubt for the contest, but he would have been expected to drop back down to the bench anyway.

Victor Lindelof

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: December 12 (vs. Bayern Munich)

Victor Lindelof was a half-time casualty of the midweek win over Chelsea and subsequently missed the loss to Bournemouth with that knock, so it remains to be seen if he will be given the all-clear to face the German champions, but he did train on Monday.

Casemiro

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: January 14 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Casemiro has been watching on from the sidelines since sustaining a severe hamstring injury in November, and Ten Hag does not believe that the ex-Real Madrid man will play again before 2024.

Lisandro Martinez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: January 14 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Similarly, Lisandro Martinez is also believed to have played his final game for Man United in the current calendar year, having been forced to go under the knife for a second time to address a foot injury.

Tyrell Malacia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 14 (vs. Tottenham Hotspur)

Tyrell Malacia has not been seen in a Man United shirt all season due to a troublesome knee problem, but Ten Hag is hopeful that he will be back from surgery within a few weeks.

Christian Eriksen

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: December 23 (vs. West Ham United)

Christian Eriksen was ruled out for "some weeks" after picking up a knee problem against Luton Town in November, but there is optimism that he will be back in action around the Christmas period.

Mason Mount

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Mason Mount returned to training from a calf injury at the beginning of the month, but he was not fit to take on Bournemouth and is expected to miss the visit of the Bavarians too.

Amad Diallo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Amad Diallo is now back in full training with the Red Devils after sustaining a knee injury over the summer, but he will be given time to build up his fitness and is not expected to be named in the squad this week.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Marcus Rashford is back from a Champions League ban this week, meaning that Man United have no players suspended for the visit of Bayern, but Jadon Sancho remains in exile amid his fall-out with Ten Hag.
