Kobbie Mainoo has said that it was "an unbelievable feeling" to make his first-team debut for Manchester United.
The 17-year-old was named in the starting XI against Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, playing 60 minutes of what proved to be a 3-0 victory for the Red Devils.
Mainoo has revealed that he has been in and around the first team "quite a few times", with Man United boss Erik ten Hag seemingly earmarking the midfielder as one for the future.
The teenager has opened up on making his debut for the 20-time English champions, claiming that he was "a bit shocked" to be named in the starting side.
"I've been in training with the lads quite a few times," Mainoo told MUTV. "They all made me feel welcome and all gave me words of advice and encouragement. So I felt at home.
"I looked at the teamsheet and I was starting. I was a bit shocked but I had to do my job. Yeah, there were some butterflies but it was just exciting.
"I played at Old Trafford in the Youth Cup and I remember that feeling was an amazing feeling. To have that again is brilliant.
"It's an unbelievable feeling. I have been at this club all my life and it's all been building to tonight. And to have my family here watching me, surrounding me, it is just amazing.
"[It was] all the immediate family. If I brought anyone else, it would be too much! But they were all here supporting me, I waved to them after the game, it was brilliant."
Mainoo said that he is now determined to 'stay around the first team', as he targets more appearances at senior level.
"To stay around it and to keep on getting more games is the ultimate goal," he added. "I want to stay at this club, I've been here my whole life."
Mainoo has made 11 appearances for Manchester United Under-23s in Premier League 2 this season, scoring twice and contributing two assists in the process.
The midfielder, who has been with the Red Devils since the age of nine, has also been capped at both Under-17 and Under-18 level by England. body check tags ::
