Patrick Kluivert has insisted that Louis van Gaal will try to win the Premier League title in his first season in charge at Manchester United.
The Red Devils finished seventh last season under former manager David Moyes, who was sacked less than 10 months into his role as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor.
Kluivert, who worked as Van Gaal's assistant manager with the Netherlands for two years, believes that while qualifying for the Champions League is important, the Dutchman will be hunting for the league title.
"It will be a difficult year but I know he can do it," Kluivert told talkSPORT. "He can work well with the squad.
"He's absolutely going for the Premier League title. A club like Manchester United always has to go for the title and that's what he wants in his first year."
Van Gaal will be officially unveiled as United's new manager in a press conference at 3pm.
