Manchester United defender Harry Maguire broke a new Premier League record with his effort in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Sheffield United.
The Red Devils were forced to come from behind on two occasions to clinch maximum points in their home clash against the Premier League's basement side.
Maguire headed home against his former club to cancel out Jayden Bogle's opener, before Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot after Ben Brereton Diaz had restored Sheffield United's lead.
Fernandes grabbed a second to give Man United the lead shortly before Rasmus Hojlund netted a fourth to round off a successful evening at Old Trafford.
Not only did he help his side claim all three points, but Maguire also had the privilege of creating a piece of Premier League history.
Maguire's record-breaking effort
Maguire scored the 1,085th goal of the 2023-24 Premier League season to set the record for the most goals scored in a 20-team campaign in the league's history.
The defender's second league goal of the season broke the previous record of 1,084 goals which was only set last term.
Like Maguire, Fernandes also enjoyed a memorable evening, netting a brace to score two or more goals in consecutive Premier League games for the very first time.
The Portugal international has also scored seven goals in his last six top-flight appearances, taking his tally to 10 Premier League goals for the season.
Man United's shaky backline
Man United may have racked up four goals against Sheffield United, but they would have been disappointed to concede two goals against the league's lowest scorers.
Having conceded 50 times in 33 games, they have now shipped 50 or more league goals for the second time in the last three seasons.
To put that into context, the Red Devils let in 50+ goals in just one of their first 29 Premier League seasons.
Erik ten Hag's side have also conceded at least two or more goals in each of their previous five competitive matches.
Man United will hope to produce a strong defensive display when they play host to relegation-threatened Burnley in Saturday's Premier League contest.
