Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has described his side's 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur as a "magic" result.
The Red Devils ended a four-match winless streak at home in the league courtesy of Henrikh Mkhitaryan's first-half strike, which also took them to within six points of the top four.
Having seen his side throw away leads late on in recent weeks, Mourinho admitted that he was anxious towards the closing stages, but talked up the importance of having held on for all three points.
"It's an important win against a very good team. We didn't deserve to spend the last 10 or 15 minutes with our hearts in hands because we deserved the goal. At this moment 1-0 is magic because we needed the points," he told Sky Sports News.
"I think everyone was feeling bad and that it could be more of the same. Again we had opportunities to score the goal, in the first half, in the second half. And we don't score, then we are always in risk because teams are good with good players and managers they try to change the game and have ammunition on the bench to that.
"Our heart was in our hands but he players gave us everything. These three points is magic because it's especially against a very good team so it means more for us. That's why I didn't change the team. The team and the players are playing well. Now we go to Crystal Palace and West Brom and we are happy with the evolution of the team and the players believe."
Mourinho also played down concerns over Mkhitaryan after the goalscorer was stretchered off in the final 10 minutes.
