Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has revealed that his only focus during pre-season is to try to impress new manager Louis van Gaal.
The departure of Patrice Evra to Juventus has promoted Shaw into the senior left-back role at Old Trafford, but the England international, who signed for United for £30m last month, has insisted that he isn't under pressure to replace the Frenchman.
The 19-year-old told reporters: "I don't feel any pressure to come in for Evra. He's been great for the club over the past eight years and hopefully I can carry that on.
"There's always going to pressure wherever you go but I try not to focus on that and I try to focus on what I do on the pitch.
"I think that's the most important thing, and obviously with the new gaffer, I need to impress him in training and that's something I can hopefully try to do over these pre-season games."
Shaw has joined United after making 67 appearances during two seasons in the first team at Southampton.
