Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Chelsea

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Chelsea on Thursday.
Sports Mole

Manchester United will seek to keep their slim hopes of a top-four finish alive when they take on Chelsea in Thursday's Premier League encounter at Old Trafford.

Ralf Rangnick's side were dealt a hammer blow in their Champions League fight over the weekend, as Nuno Tavares, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka struck in a 3-1 success for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The Red Devils now find themselves six points adrift of the Gunners having played a game more, while West Ham United could knock them down to seventh if they win their game in hand.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with the Blues.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: April 28 (vs. Man United)

Rangnick revealed at his pre-match press conference that Aaron Wan-Bissaka had picked up an unspecified problem and has therefore emerged as a doubt for the visit of the European champions.

Harry Maguire

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Harry Maguire was named on the bench against Arsenal following a bomb threat to his home and has also been dealing with a knee problem recently, so he will miss out here.

Jadon Sancho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: Unknown

Jadon Sancho caused Cedric Soares all sorts of problems at the Emirates, but Rangnick has revealed that the attacker will not be available for Thursday's game due to tonsillitis.

Fred

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: Unknown

The hip injury that Fred sustained in the recent defeat to Everton prevented him from turning out against the Gunners, and the Brazilian will not be ready for the visit of Chelsea either.

Edinson Cavani

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: May 2 (vs. Brentford)

The injury-plagued Edinson Cavani is still dealing with a calf problem he picked up with Uruguay, but he has a slight chance of returning for Monday's meeting with Brentford.

Luke Shaw

Status: Out
Type of injury: Leg
Possible return date: Unknown

Luke Shaw recently underwent an operation to remove two bolts from the leg he broke back in 2015, and the left-back is at risk of missing the rest of the season.

Paul Pogba

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

The calf injury that Paul Pogba sustained against Liverpool has likely ruled him out for the rest of the campaign, meaning that the Frenchman may have played his final game for the Red Devils.

MAN UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Mason Greenwood

Possible return date: Unknown

Mason Greenwood was recently arrested on suspicion of rape, assault, sexual assault and making threats to kill, and he has been suspended by the Red Devils until further notice.
