Bruno Fernandes was reportedly seen leaving Sporting Lisbon's training ground after holding exit talks with the club amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
The Portugal international has been a long-term target for United, who reportedly struck an agreement in principle with Sporting for the midfielder's transfer earlier this week.
However, recent reports have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are moving ahead of United in the race for Fernandes, with executives flying to Portugal to negotiate a move of their own for the 24-year-old.
According to Record, the midfielder and his agent, Miguel Pinho, met with club president Federico Varandas and sporting director Hugo Viana on Friday to finalise the details of his departure.
Sporting are demanding a fee of around £60m for Fernandes, who scored 32 goals and claimed 18 assists from central midfield last season.
The 24-year-old is expected to play his last game for Sporting tomorrow against rivals Benfica in the Portuguese Super Cup.
