Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has reportedly rejected the chance to join Lorient on loan for the 2023-24 campaign.
The Netherlands international's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with a number of clubs believed to be keen to sign him before Friday evening's deadline.
Lorient are believed to have had a loan offer accepted by Man United on Wednesday, with the Ligue 1 outfit making an ambitious attempt to sign him.
However, according to Le Parisien, Van de Beek has rejected the chance to move to the French side, as he is allegedly hopeful of securing a more lucrative exit before the window closes.
Lorient will not be able to offer any European football this season, having finished 10th in France's top flight during the 2022-23 campaign.
Real Sociedad were in discussions with the Dutchman earlier this month before ultimately dropping their interest, while talk of a potential return to Ajax has cooled in recent days.
Van de Beek is also believed to be of interest to Turkish clubs, although it is unclear at this stage which teams could potentially move for him before the transfer deadline.
The midfielder has not been involved for Man United in the early stages of the campaign amid the speculation surrounding his future.
Van de Beek was restricted to just 10 outings in all competitions last season, meanwhile, due to a serious knee injury, but he returned to the field during the team's pre-season preparations.
The 26-year-old arrived at Man United from Ajax in the summer of 2020, and he has represented the club on 60 occasions, scoring twice and providing two assists.
The Red Devils have allowed one first-team midfielder to leave during the current window, with Fred moving to Fenerbahce.
Mason Mount has arrived to boost the midfield department, though, while Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat is currently in talks over a switch to Old Trafford before the deadline.
Amrabat could allegedly join the Red Devils on an initial loan move, which might then become permanent during next summer's transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur's Sergio Reguilon has also reportedly been given permission to head to Old Trafford to undergo a medical ahead of a loan switch.
