Manchester City have reportedly joined rivals Manchester United in the race to sign Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.
The 26-year-old, who was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League prior to joining the Spanish giants, is thought to be among the Red Devils' top summer targets.
According to The Sun, however, incoming City boss Pep Guardiola is also desperate to sign the Germany international after previously working with him at Bayern Munich.
Guardiola is said to be keen on bringing some more creativity to the middle of the park upon joining the Citizens, with Kroos seen as the ideal man to add some freshness to an ageing City side.
United and City are in a two-way battle to claim the fourth and final Champions League berth for next season among England's contingent, and the same report suggests that securing European football will be key to signing the midfield man.
Kroos, who swapped Munich for Madrid in 2014, has made 42 appearances for Los Blancos this season in all competitions.
