Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Manchester United in this summer's market.
The 25-year-old has been in strong form for BVB during the 2022-23 campaign, keeping 12 clean sheets in 25 appearances in all competitions, including eight in the Bundesliga.
Kobel has spent time on the sidelines this season through injury, but he has played a key role in Dortmund sitting at the top of the Bundesliga table, one point ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich.
The Switzerland international has been with BVB since 2021, representing the club on 65 occasions in all competitions, keeping 23 clean sheets in the process.
According to Blick, Dortmund are keen to hand Kobel a new contract despite the fact that the stopper still has another three years left to run on his agreement.
The report claims that the German side are wary of outside interest, with Man United keeping a close eye on the goalkeeper's form.
The financial power of Premier League clubs is said to be concerning Dortmund when it comes to Kobel, with Chelsea also credited with an interest.
BVB are said to be desperate to keep hold of the Swiss but would be looking for a fee of around £45m if they were forced into a sale.
Man United are expected to be in the market for at least one new goalkeeper this summer even if David de Gea ultimately signs a new contract.
Tom Heaton, who is the current number two, only has a deal at Old Trafford until the end of June, while third-choice stopper Jack Butland is on loan from Crystal Palace.
Dean Henderson is set to return from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest this summer, but the England international could then depart on a permanent basis.
De Gea's existing terms in Manchester are due to expire at the end of June, and it is believed that he has turned down the club's latest contract offer.
However, the Spaniard has expressed his happiness at Old Trafford, and he is expected to put pen to paper in the near future, having been in strong form during the 2022-23 campaign.
De Gea's distribution struggles have been highlighted this season, though, with the long-serving goalkeeper often finding it difficult to come to terms with the new system under Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag.
Brentford's David Raya and Porto's Diogo Costa are among the other stoppers to be linked with moves to Old Trafford amid the uncertainty surrounding De Gea's future. body check tags ::
