Manchester United have reportedly had a €60m (£50m) offer for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde rejected by the Spanish giants.
The 23-year-old joined Los Blancos from Penarol in 2016 and has made 125 appearances for the capital side's first team, scoring six times and contributing seven assists in the process.
Valverde has been a regular this season, making 23 appearances in all competitions, although he has struggled for starts due to the presence of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos.
According to El Nacional, Man United view the Uruguay international as the ideal player to replace Paul Pogba, who is set to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer, potentially to join Carlo Ancelotti's side.
The report claims that the Red Devils placed a €60m (£50m) offer on the table, but Real Madrid quickly rejected the bid, as they view the central midfielder as 'non-transferable'.
Valverde signed a new long-term contract at Bernabeu last August, with the South American committed to the La Liga leaders until the end of the 2026-27 campaign. body check tags ::
