Manchester United have reportedly failed with a late attempt to hijack Paris Saint-Germain's deal for Everton man Idrissa Gueye, according to a report.
PSG have long been admirers of the Senegalese international and have agreed a deal with Everton worth £28m.
According to L'Equipe, however, the deal has taken longer than expected to get over the line due to the player considering late interest from Old Trafford.
Gueye has decided against heading to Manchester and will instead sign a five-year contract at the Parc des Princes.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to land a new central midfielder, having so far failed to land Sean Longstaff, Bruno Fernandes and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
