Manchester United's £60m deal for Casemiro has reportedly been delayed due to a visa problem, with the Red Devils not expected to confirm his arrival until the middle of next week.

The 20-time English champions announced on Friday evening that they had come to an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of the Brazil international.

"Manchester United is delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Casemiro," read the statement on the club's official website.

"The transfer is subject to the agreement of personal terms, UK visa requirements and a medical. Casemiro has played over 500 professional games, including 63 at international level for his native Brazil.

"He has won 17 major honours in his illustrious career including five Champions League titles and the Copa America. We all look forward to welcoming Casemiro to Old Trafford."

Man United had allegedly been hopeful of securing the 30-year-old's signature over the weekend, with the club planning to unveil him to the Old Trafford crowd ahead of Monday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

However, according to The Athletic, the midfielder will not arrive in the United Kingdom in time for the game against Liverpool due to some issues with his visa.

As a result, the 20-time English champions are unlikely to be able to confirm the South American's arrival until the middle of next week.

Casemiro should join up with his new teammates ahead of the clash with Southampton on August 27, with his debut potentially coming against the Saints at St Mary's.

Man United are believed to be paying £60m for the holding midfielder, in addition to a potential further £10m in add-ons, and he is set to pen a four-year deal with the option of a fifth.

Casemiro made 48 appearances in all competitions last season, as Los Blancos won La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup during a successful campaign.

Real Madrid were not actively looking to sell the Brazilian this summer but were prepared to let him depart following the arrival of Aurelien Tchouameni to boost their midfield.

Casemiro joined Real Madrid from Sao Paulo in 2013, making 336 appearances for the Spanish club, contributing 31 goals and 29 assists in the process.

Man United have only made three signings during this summer's transfer window, bringing in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, but the club are planning to be active before the deadline.

Despite securing a deal for Casemiro, the Red Devils allegedly still want Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, while the club have allegedly stepped up their interest in Ajax attacker Antony. body check tags ::
