Manchester United are reportedly considering selling their captain Wayne Rooney to a wealthy Chinese Super League club.
The 30-year-old, who is expected to be out of action for around two months with a knee injury, has been a United player for the last 12 years.
The striker has scored seven goals in United's last nine games, but overall this season, he has struggled to be prolific on the pitch under manager Louis van Gaal.
It has been reported by The Sun that United have received an offer from a top-flight club in China for their captain, but according to the Manchester Evening News, the club will only sell if they seal a marquee signing as a replacement.
It is believed that United would need to bring in a player who will please the club's global partners as they want someone to promote their products.
At the moment, Rooney is the face of numerous commercial campaigns for the Red Devils.
