Manchester United are reportedly lining up a contract offer for Adrien Rabiot, with the Red Devils keen to sign the Juventus midfielder on a free transfer this summer.
The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last year, and it is believed that Man United reached an agreement with Juventus over a £15m deal.
However, the wage demands of Veronique Rabiot, who is the midfielder's mother and agent, are believed to have ended the chances of a deal going through.
Rabiot ultimately remained in Turin, and he has been a vital player for the Old Lady during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 44 occasions in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering four assists.
The Frenchman only has a deal with Juventus until the end of June, though, and there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future with the Italian giants.
A recent report claimed that Man United had reignited their interest, with the English club's head coach Erik ten Hag viewing Rabiot as the ideal summer acquisition.
According to RMC Sport, the 20-time English champions are now preparing to put a contract on the table in the hope of bringing him to Old Trafford ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
The report claims that Rabiot is yet to make a decision on his future, and a lot could depend on whether Juventus are present in the Champions League next season.
The Old Lady are currently second in the Serie A table, eight points ahead of fifth-placed AC Milan, having had a recent 15-point deduction from earlier this year overturned.
Rabiot started his professional career with Paris Saint-Germain, making 227 appearances for the French giants before arriving at Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.
The midfielder has now featured on 173 occasions for the Old Lady, scoring 17 goals and registering 10 assists in the process, while he has won Serie A, the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup during his time in Turin.
Rabiot was a key player for France at the 2022 World Cup, meanwhile, featuring on six occasions at the competition, including 96 minutes of the final against Argentina.
Man United boosted their midfield with the arrivals of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro last summer, but Scott McTominay is being linked with an exit in the upcoming market, and Ten Hag is said to be determined to boost his options in that area of the field.
