Jose Mourinho will attempt to bring Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane to Manchester United if he is appointed head coach of the Premier League club this summer, according to a report.
Speculation linking Mourinho with Man United continues to gather pace, with the Portuguese, who left Chelsea in December, widely expected to replace Louis van Gaal at the end of the season.
During his time in charge of Real Madrid, Mourinho branded Varane 'the best young defender in the world' and according to The Sun, the French centre-back will be Mourinho's leading transfer target this summer.
Varane, 22, joined Real Madrid from Lens in 2011, turning down a host of clubs, including Man United, to make the move to the Bernabeu.
