Tottenham Hotspur reportedly remain £15m short of Real Betis's asking price for Giovani Lo Celso.
Despite a summer-long pursuit of the Argentina international, Spurs have still not managed to get a deal over the line for one of Mauricio Pochettino's top targets.
The North London outfit had hoped to have parted ways with Christian Eriksen as a result of his contract expiring next summer, but the Dane remains part of Pochettino's squad.
According to Marca, that has led to Spurs not bidding more than £50m for Lo Celso, still £15m below what Betis are demanding for the 23-year-old.
The report adds that Lo Celso has all but agreed personal terms to make the switch to the Premier League outfit.
Negotiations could potentially be aided if Eriksen moves to Manchester United before the end of the summer window.
