Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman after being told that he will spend one more year in the Netherlands.
The 23-year-old, who is also thought to be a target for Italian outfit Napoli, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for several seasons now.
However, PSV sporting director Marcel Brands insists that Strootman is staying with the club for now.
"We do not want to lose Strootman this summer," Brands told De Telegraaf.
He knows that he will stay at PSV for another season."
Strootman has three years left on his current deal at PSV.
