Manchester United reportedly gave the green light for Casemiro to move to Turkey earlier this week, but the midfielder rejected the chance to leave Old Trafford.
The Brazilian struggled during Man United's Premier League clash with Liverpool last weekend, being at fault for the away team's first two goals in Manchester, and he was replaced at the half-time interval.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding Casemiro's future this week, with Galatasaray believed to have been in touch with Man United to register their interest, as the Turkish transfer window does not close until September 13.
According to Turkiye Gazetesi, the Red Devils agreed to loan Casemiro to Galatasaray for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, with the Istanbul giants demonstrating a willingness to take on his salary.
However, the report claims that the midfielder turned down the chance to move to Rams Park, as he wants to fight for his spot at Man United.
Man United 'agreed' terms with Galatasaray over Casemiro switch
Casemiro's spot in the Man United XI is now in severe doubt due to the arrival of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes are certainties in the Red Devils midfield, leaving space for just one more, and it is difficult to imagine Ugarte sitting on the bench for the team considering that he was Man United's leading midfield target over the summer.
Casemiro has again been left out of the Brazil squad, meaning that he will have a period of rest before Erik ten Hag's side resume their Premier League campaign with a trip to Southampton on September 14.
The experienced midfielder had an excellent first season at Old Trafford after arriving from Real Madrid, but he struggled last term, and the clash with Liverpool last weekend was one of the lowest points in his Man United career to date.
Can Casemiro still contribute for Man United?
Casemiro's best work is now coming as an attacking central midfielder, with the Brazilian struggling to be the destroyer that he was for long spells at Real Madrid.
However, with Mainoo and Fernandes key players, it is difficult to see where Casemiro fits into the side, as Ugarte is set to operate as the holding player.
Due to the volume of matches this season, Casemiro should still receive plenty of minutes, with a busy schedule in the coming weeks seeing Man United open their Europa League and League Cup campaigns.
The midfielder has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2026, with the option of a further 12 months, but this should be his last season at the club, with an exit next summer the best outcome for both parties. body check tags ::
