Missed opportunities at both ends of the pitch have seen the first half of the Ligue 1 clash between Bordeaux and Marseille end goalless.
A bright start from Marseille was quickly forgotten as Bordeaux came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock in spectacular fashion when Mariano rattled the post with a volley following a poor clearance from Steve Mandanda.
The nervy moment forced Marseille onto the front foot, and they tested the woodwork at the other end when Romain Alessandrini struck the post following good work from Andre Pierre-Gignac.
Mandanda looked beaten once again when Jaroslav Plasil fired an effort just wide of the target as both sides continued to threaten.
The lively Alessandrini tried his luck once again after being gifted space on the edge of the box, but Cedric Carrasso responded well to tip the shot onto the post.
