A long-range strike from Grant Leadbitter has put Middlesbrough ahead against Brentford at the halfway point of their Championship match at the Riverside Stadium.
Aitor Karanka's men were quick out of the blocks, with Patrick Bamford seeing his strike fizz over David Button's crossbar in the early stages.
The hosts were controlling the game and playing good football, with Leadbitter and Ryan Fredericks combining well.
Middlesbrough deserved the opener when it came just after the half-hour mark. Leadbitter picked the ball up 25 yards out and unleashed a thunderous strike past Button.
Leadbitter almost doubled his tally and the lead moments later, sending his effort just over the crossbar.
