The first chance of the contest fell to Yann Kermorgant, who took advantage of some panic in the Boro box, before scuffing his shot wide.

Shorlty after, Ledesma scored a long-range effort which squirmed under the body of Addicks keeper Yohann Thuran-Ulien, who is making his Charlton debut.

The stopper did go some way to redeeming himself by pulling off two saves in succession, which kept the scoreline at 1-0.
