Middlesbrough winger Mustapha Carayol looks set to miss the remainder of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.
The Gambian, 25, went down in the 89th minute of Boro's goalless draw at Bournemouth at the weekend.
"The doctor told me that he thought it was his cruciate, but I don't know whether it was the anterior or the posterior," the Northern Echo quotes Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka as saying.
"So I prefer to wait for the tests and hope that he will be out for as short a time as possible."
Carayol has appeared in 32 of Boro's 36 league games this season, scoring eight goals.
