The Football Association has charged Middlesbrough striker Cristhian Stuani with violent conduct.
The charge relates to an incident that happened during the second half of Boro's 1-0 win over Preston North End at the weekend.
Referee Oliver Langford did not see the Uruguayan's alleged act of wrong-doing, but it was caught on video.
As a result, Stuani is facing a three-match suspension if he is found guilty of the charge.
Promotion-chasing Boro, who face Reading tonight, have confirmed that they will lodge an appeal before today's 6pm deadline.
