Middleborough comfortably beat Huddersfield Town 3-0 in their Championship clash at the Riverside Stadium this evening.
The opening exchanges were dominated by the wet and windy conditions, which made it difficult for either side to take control of the game.
It was Middlesbrough who took the lead after 27 minutes through a Scott McDonald tap-in.
Huddersfield began to pile the pressure on in search of an equaliser, though the Terriers could not find a way through a stubborn Boro defence.
Boro almost went 2-0 up just before half time when Peter Clarke inadvertently sent the ball towards his own goal, though Alex Smithies pulled off a fine save to tip it onto the bar.
After 66 minutes, Emmanuel Ledesma fired a free kick into the back of the net from 25 yards, making it 2-0 to the home side.
McDonald made it three with his second of the night after 84 minutes to secure all three points for Tony Mowbray's side.
