Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Tim Cahill from under the noses of Championship rivals Millwall.
The veteran Australia international is said to have been offered a contract by the Lions following talks with his former club, but Forest are ready to offer him an alternative destination, according to Sky Sports News.
The 38-year-old is said to be seeking regular game time to help him prepare for this summer's World Cup finals with Australia.
Cahill, who began his career at Millwall in 1998 before signing for Premier League club Everton, left his previous club Melbourne City in December, becoming a free agent.
The experienced forward has also spent time with Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls and Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua since leaving England.
