Montreal Impact remain top of the MLS Eastern Conference after a 1-1 draw with Columbus Crew this evening.
The away side had to come from a goal down at the conference leaders to stay within four points of their opponents.
The match started in very open fashion with both sides creating chances. Agustin Viana's header was saved well by Tony Perkins in the Montreal goal before Justin Mapp missed the target when put through by Marco Di Vaio.
Federico Higuain was a constant threat for the away side, and after missing the target twice in two minutes, he was denied by Perkins in the final minutes of the first half.
After the break Montreal started to get more of the ball, without really threatening the away goal.
That was until midway through the half when Di Vaio found space on the edge of the box and fired the ball into the bottom corner.
They could have had another a minute later, but Mapp missed the target after being played through on the left by Jeb Brovsky, and shortly afterwards they were made to pay.
Dominic Oduro wriggled free in the box and smashed the ball into the top corner for the equaliser with 15 minutes to go.
Substitute Sanna Nyassi had three good chances to give Montreal the win in the last 10 minutes, but was unable to test the goalkeeper and the game finished level.
