A 95th-minute own goal from Aziz Bouhaddouz gifted Iran a first World Cup win in 20 years at the expense of Morocco in this afternoon's Group B clash in Saint Petersberg.
It was little surprise that the defences were on top in an encounter between two teams who kept 21 clean sheets in 26 matches between them on their way to Russia.
Morocco's best chance fell to Juventus defender Medhi Benatia, who could not fully capitalise on a scuffed clearance as his close-range shot was saved by Alireza Beiranvand.
Beiranvand was on hand again to deny Hakim Ziyech on 80 minutes, with a diving low save which proved to be even more valuable when Bouhaddouz headed the ball into his own net deep into stoppage time.
