The agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho has admitted that his client came close to leaving the Italian side in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old joined Napoli from Verona in the summer of 2014, but struggled to make his mark last season under Rafael Benitez.
The Brazilian has impressed this term, however, and his representative Joao Santos has revealed that any talk of a move away has been put on hold until January.
"Everything has changed since the summer. After the arrival of new players, we thought the moment had come to leave. A quality player like Jorginho cannot sit on the bench," Santos told gianlucadimarzio.com.
"There were five sides interested in Jorginho: four Italian and one English. We were very close to leaving Napoli, then director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli arrived.
"He told us that the club really believed in him and considered him untouchable. "herefore we decided to postpone any discussion until January."
Jorginho has made six league appearances for Napoli this season.
