Netherlands will have to cope without as many as seven players due to injury for Thursday's Euro 2024 qualifier against Greece at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven.

The Oranje's second-highest goalscorer Memphis Depay is sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Steven Bergwijn (knee), Jurrien Timber (ACL), Sven Botman (ankle), Justin Bijlow (broken wrist), Tyrell Malacia (muscle) and Brian Brobbey (unspecified) are also in the treatment room.

Meanwhile, Ryan Gravenberch has opted against representing the nation's Under-21s side as he is keen to focus on settling in at his new club Liverpool, a decision that has left senior head coach Ronald Koeman "not happy".

Six uncapped players have been named in Koeman's 25-man squad – Bart Verbruggen, Micky van de Ven, Ian Maatsen, Quilindschy Hartman, Lutsharel Geertruida and Tijjani Reijnders – but none of these are expected to be selected in the starting lineup on Thursday.

Koeman may stick with a four-man defence that should include captain Virgil van Dijk as well as either Lutsharel Geertruida or Matthijs de Ligt at centre-back, with Denzel Dumfries and Nathan Ake the most likely candidates to start as full-backs.

Feyernoord's Mats Wieffer has earned his first three international caps in each the last three matches and he could continue in centre-midfield alongside Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong.

Cody Gakpo could operate in the number 10 role either side of wingers Donyell Malen and either Noa Lang or Xavi Simons, while Wout Weghorst – who is yet to score on loan at Hoffenheim – is set to lead the line.
