Two goals from Kelyn Rowe led New England Revolution to a 2-1 MLS victory over San Jose Earthquakes.
Rowe opened the scoring for New England in the 21st minute, his shot taking a deflection off a defender's head before hitting the back of the net.
New England continued to push with Juan Agudelo and Rowe both having shots saved by David Bingham.
Rowe scored his second before half time when he directed a diving header into the bottom-left corner.
San Jose Earthquakes made all three of their substitutes before the hour mark, and it paid off in the 61st minute when Chris Wondolowski scored from the penalty spot.
New England looked the most likely team to score in the closing stages, though, with Jose Goncalves seeing his shot saved and Charlie Davies and Lee Nguyen missing the target as they comfortably held on.
The result sees New England move up to fourth in the Eastern Conference standings.
