A Frank Lampard hat-trick has helped New York City FC to a 5-1 victory over Colorado Rapids in Saturday's MLS clash at the Yankee Stadium.
The 38-year-old opened the scoring for the hosts in the 28th minute by prodding home a cross from the left wing, though a long delay then followed due to the arrival of bad weather.
Following the restart, Micheal Azira's red card just nine minutes later made things even harder for Colorado, before Tony Taylor doubled NYC's lead just before the break.
Stiven Mendoza then put Patrick Vieira's side out of reach in the 75th minute, while Lampard struck twice more in the final 10 minutes of the game, the latter goal a penalty, to clinch his hat-trick.
Though Shkelzen Gashi struck a consolation for Rapids in the 93rd minute, the home fans could not be silenced as they saw their team record a thumping victory.
