New York City drew 1-1 with Houston Dynamo in the MLS this morning.
David Villa was causing the Houston defence problems from the start, and it was a sign of things to come when his shot narrowly missed the right post in the second minute.
However, it was Houston who opened the scoring in the 16th minute as Will Bruin scored his fifth goal of the season following a corner.
Villa saw a shot blocked shortly afterwards, and then forced a save from Tyler Deric in the 20th minute.
The Spaniard got his goal in first-half stoppage time, after Raul Rodriguez handled in the area, allowing Villa to convert from 12 yards.
Former Derby County player Giles Barnes had a shot saved in the 55th minute, before Bruin's header was tipped over the bar by Josh Saunders.
Villa and Andrew Jacobsen both had chances to give New York victory in the closing stages, but were unable to find the net.
