Newcastle Jets have been thrashed at Central Coast Mariners in their first game since sacking Gary van Egmond.
Under the caretaker charge of Clayton Zane, the Jets went down 3-0 at their New South Wales rivals, who climb to second in the A-League table as a result.
All three goals came in the first half. Anthony Caceres and Daniel McBreen both netted from long range to put the Mariners in firm control, before Matthew Simon completed the scoring with a header from six yards.
The Mariners are now seven points behind leaders Brisbane Roar, who beat Wellington Phoenix 2-1 on Friday.
