Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has praised his side's efforts following their 1-0 victory over Anzhi Makhachkala in the last 16 of the Europa League.
Papiss Cisse scored in the third minute of injury time at St James' Park on Thursday night to send the Magpies into the quarter-finals.
"I think we've put out one of the best teams in the competition if I'm honest," Pardew told Sky Sports News.
"We just squeezed over the line and I'm highly delighted. We've had a very, very tough two games."
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur also made it through to the last eight of the competition on Thursday with their aggregate wins over Steaua Bucuresti and Inter Milan respectively.
