Steven Taylor has claimed that Newcastle United's victory over Anzhi Makhachkala in the last 16 of the Europa League is a "massive result" for the club.
Papiss Cisse scored the winner in the third minute of injury time at St James' Park as the Magpies booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
"It's a massive result for this football club and this is where we belong," Taylor told BBC Sport. "It's a fantastic night. In the second half we stuck to the task and did it.
"They could not cope with what we had going forward and they gave Papiss a chance and you can't do that."
Newcastle are one of three English teams in the last eight of the tournament following wins for Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.
