Goals from Andreas Weimann, Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph were enough for Paul Lambert's side to progress to the third round.

The Ameobi brothers were the heroes for the Magpies as Shola grabbed the first with four minutes left on the clock before Sammy claimed the second in injury time for Alan Pardew's side.

Two goals in quick succession from Nicky Maynard and Rudy Gestede were enough for Cardiff City to see off the threat of Accrington Stanley.

Maynard grabbed his side's opener just after the hour mark and Gestede added the second a minute later to make it back-to-back wins for Malky Mackay's side.

Watford eased past Bournemouth 2-1 at Vicarage Road to book their place in the third-round draw.

Elliot Ward put through his own net after a quarter of an hour before Cristian Battocchio made it 2-0 on 65 minutes for Gianfranco Zola's side.

Everton eventually beat Stevenage 2-1 after they were taken to extra time by the visitors.

Luke Freeman gave Stevenage the lead after 36 minutes, before Gerard Deulofeu marked his first start for the Blues with a goal.

Marouane Fellaini eventually netted the winner when he scored in 115th minute for Roberto Martinez's side.

Nottingham Forest also had to win it in extra time after they were held 1-1 in normal time by Championship rivals Millwall at the City Ground.

Matt Derbyshire opened the scoring for Forest but Andy Keogh grabbed a later equaliser for the visitors.

However Jamaal Lascelles scored the winning goal in extra time for Billy Davies's side.
