Alan Shearer labels Newcastle United performance "awful"

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has given his honest admission on the Magpies recent draw with Watford in the Premier League.

Alan Shearer has given his honest thoughts on Newcastle United's performance following the 1-1 draw against Watford.

The Magpies were involved in a crucial Premier League encounter against the Hornets today, who are also fighting for survival in the top flight.

The points were shared, despite the fact that Eddie Howe's team took the lead through Allan Saint-Maximin, as they were unable to hold on with Joao Pedro equalising in the 88th minute.

Newcastle legend Shearer was not impressed by what he saw, taking to Twitter to give his opinion on the game, writing: "one shot on target at home against Watford. Miles away man. Two poor sides. Awful."

"And after our only shot on target we sat back and went further back and invited Watford to attack," the veteran forward later added.

The draw left Newcastle sat 19th in the table, with Watford two points and places above them in 17th. body check tags ::
